10-11 State Tournament

• GALL wins game 1 vs District 11...13-8.  Starting pitcher Connor Sheridan threw 3 innings of No-Hit baseball.  Carson Cole continued the No-Hitter through the 4th inning to a score of 7-0 at the top of the 5th.  The District 11 team gathered some effort and scored 5 runs in the 5th to make things interesting.  GALL stretched things out with 6 runs in the top of the 6th to seal the deal.  Nice Job.

• GALL wins game 2 vs District 7...12-9.  GALL fell behind early in this one but with plenty of baseball left to play, they stayed focused and pulled out the eventual win.  GALL is 2-0 in pool play with 2 more pool games left.  Key hitting and solid pitching has been the strengths so far...keep it up.

• GALL drops game 3 vs District 6...1-11.  GALL had been perfect in its AllStars run until it met up with District 6.  GALL couldn't string hits together to push their score and defense allowed unearned runs for the opponent.  GALL still sitting good at a 2-1 record towards advancing to Saturday's quarter finals. 

• GALL wins game 4 vs District 5...10-0.  GALL bounced back from lack-luster play from game 3 to a commanding victory...a run rule!  Dane Stankiewicz pitched the 4 inning contest giving up only 4 hits.  GALL defense was solid and the bats woke up dealing 12 legitimate hits.  GALL also capitalized on the extra opportunities given by its opponents errors.  This win puts GALL into the #2 seeded slot going into the Quarter-Finals...will play the #3 seed from the other pool on Saturday.  GO GALL!

• GALL wins Quarter-Final game vs District 12...9-8.  Connor Sheridan took the mound in this must win and pitched 5 solid innings against a solid Ahwatukee team.  GALL took an early lead with clutch hitting including a deep homerun by Dane Stankiewicz to extend the score to 5-0 in the bottom of the 2nd.  Ahwatukee battled back with a couple of homeruns of their own to bring the score to 5-3 in the third. Things got interesting in the 6th inning.  GALL being the home team is hanging on to a 7-5 lead into the top of the inning...hold them here and its over.  Ahwatukee scores 3 to go ahead 8-7.  GALL uses patience in its last at bat as they are facing a new pitcher.  The first 2 batters walk...then a fielders choice to third for the first out.  Another walk and now bases are loaded.  First pitch to the next batter is a passed ball and the runner from third scores knotting the score.  Batter ends up taking a walk to load the bases.  Next batter hits into a fielders choice with the play made at home.  2 outs...bases loaded...Dane Stankiewicz is in the box...intensity high.  First pitch is another passed ball and Connor Sheridan steals home.  The throw from the catcher is in time but the pitcher covering drops the ball....GAME OVER!  GALL ADVANCES TO SEMI FINAL! 

• GALL wins Semi-Final game vs District 6...12-2.  GALL avenged its previous loss to the District 6 team in pool play with a run-rule in 5 innings.  Dane Stankiewicz got the start at pitcher and did a great job through the 3rd inning.  GALL held a 5-0 lead to that point with the help of a 3 run homer by Nick Manger.  Carson Cole came in relief of Dane in the 4th.  Bottom of the 4th saw Nick Manger hit his SECOND homerun of the night pushing the score to 10-1.  Dist 6 scratched one more run across the plate in the 5th but GALL put the game away in the bottom of the same inning with 2 runs.  Manager Brian Schmidt related that every player made significant contributions whether on defense or offense...TEAM BASEBALL.  Solid outing by our boys who only seem to be gaining momentum.  GALL ADVANCES TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!!! 

• GALL loses Championship game vs District 5...10-16.  GALL concludes its State Tournament run with an overall 2nd place finish.  AWESOME SHOWING!  The Finale was a back and forth barn-burner full of offense from both sides.  District 5 came out swinging the bats and went up 8-1 after the first inning...this included a grand slam.  GALL tightened things up and battled back to take a one run lead into the 4th inning.  However, the bats of the opponent proved to be too much as they retook the lead and never looked back.  District 5 avenged its run-ruled loss to GALL from pool play in exciting fashion hitting at least 5 homeruns in this Championship game. 

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE 10-11 ALL-STARS FOR A TERRIFIC POSTSEASON REPRESENTATION OF GILBERT AMERICAN LITTLE LEAGUE!

10-11 District 14 Tournament

• GALL wins opener over GNLL...7-4. 

• GALL wins game 2 with a run-rule over QCLL...10-0. Carson Cole hit an over-the-fence homerun on the first pitch of the game.  

• GALL wins semi-final game over DVLL...4-0.  Connor Sheridan pitches a no-hitter.

• GALL wins CHAMPIONSHIP game over SEDLL...13-3 in 4 innings.  GALL goes undefeated in District Tournament.

  GALL ADVANCES TO STATE TOURNAMENT! This is the 2nd consecutive year at state for the GALL 10-11 team.  Stay tuned for game schedule...TBD.
